tog & thel

Icelandic sheep have a unique primitive coat: ‘tog’, the coarse outer wool which protects them from rain & wind, and ‘thel’, the shorter insulating coat which can be as soft & fine as merino. All wool is hand-sheared and processed on the farm. Icelandic wool lends itself well to wet felting, a simple but labor intensive process of agitating wool with hot water & soap until the fibers mesh together.
